ENCHANTED LAND OF MYTHS AND CULINARY DELIGHTS
On this incredible tour off the beaten path, we visit many places of the 18th century Grand Tour of Italy. We live the warmth and passionate hospitality of the people of the Campania Region…after all it is here where some of Italy’s most famous romantic songs originate.
The spectacular and vibrant Sorrento Penisula of stunning views, striking coastlines, cascade of bright houses, terraced hills covered in lemon groves and olive trees overlook the blue waters.
We stay for 7 nights on the Sorrento Coast facing the Bay of Naples and the Vesuvius volcano always on the horizon. The charm of the area lies its sun drenched rustic simplicity and quaint artisan workshops in a maze of medieval alleys.
Our tour includes a private boat excursion to the islands of Ischia and Procida. We reach a terraced vineyard and enjoy a winemaker lunch and see why the local grape growers are called “crazy angles”. In Procida, the colorful quaint fisherman’s island will mesmerize for its uniqueness.
Another boat excursion takes on an exclusive private guided tour to picturesque Capri, once playground of the Roman emperors and now of international jet setters.
A private guided tour of the archaeological site of the less tourist crowded Herculaneum shows luxurious villas, temples, theatre, and forum destroyed by the Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD.
See also some of the best preserved 6th century BC Doric Greek Temples of the world in the ancient Greco-Roman city of Paestum.
Visit one of the largest residential palaces in Europe, the 18th century Royal Palace of Caserta with breathtaking gardens and cascading fountains, built for the Bourbon kings of Naples and now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
A tour of the rich city of Naples is unforgettable while gazing at the beauty of the churches and palaces as well as the alleys and crowded streets. See the Phlegraean Fields, literally burning fields referring to the highly volcanic nature of this area as we see the Submerged Archeological Park where well preserved underwater mosaics, statues and Roman ruins.
Our experience also includes all the elements of the “Mediterranean diet”, like visiting a boutique mozarella di bufala cheesemaker and learning the art of local cuisine during a hands on cooking lesson in Sant’Agata de’Goti in a family run winery, but also the secrets to the art of making of true pizza making in Naples. Here the volcanic soil gives life to great wines like Falanghina, Piedirosso, Aglianico, Lacryma Christi and more.
