Gourmet Wine Tour of Tuscany
From Maremma to Montalcino, Montepulciano, & Chianti Classico through Renaissance & Medieval hilltop towns
TRAVEL WITH ME from the Etruscan coast of Tuscany in Maremma, through the picturesque landscapes of Val D’Orcia, and charming hilltop towns along the Chianti wine route.
You will enjoy the ultimate Culinary & Wine exclusive experiences while discovering the most breathtaking and carefully preserved areas of Tuscany. This region of rolling hills, slender cypresses, quaint farmhouses surrounded by neatly aligned vineyards, and Medieval and Renaissance hilltop towns are what can be considered one of the best known wine-producing regions of Italy. This tour will surprise the most passionate wine enthusiast and statisfy the most discerning wine connoisseur.
Our journey begins in Maremma in southwestern Tuscany and along the Etruscan Coast, called Italy’s “Wild West” which is oddly “undiscovered” by most tourists. Mremma is known for its cowboys, the butteri, who beat Buffalo Bill in 1911 when he challenged them to a breaking of the colts contest. For centuries this part of Tuscany was swampland later drained and opened to farmland and vineyards giving life to famous SuperTuscan wines.
Here we enjoy sit down tastings at pioneer winemakers and newcomer boutique wineries, some part of the Toscana Wine Architecture network where architectural geniality of the world’s top architects like Mario Botta and Renzo Piano enhance the pleasure of tasting award wining wines.
Unique to this tour is a visit to the mesmerizing island of Elba, surrounded by crystal clear seas and where Napoleon was exiled and ancient winemaking traditions retrun to produce facinating DOC and DOCG wines.
As we make our way towards Val D’Orcia, we stop in the gorgeous tufa town of Pitigliano, also called ”little Jerusalem for its Jewish heritage and ancient synagogue.
The iconic and picture perfect landscapes of Val D’Orcia and the charming medieval towns Montalcino, Montepulciano, and Pienza await. Learn to make pecorino cheese in Pienza. Visit single-vineyard winemakers and top-quality producers of Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
In the Chianti Classico region, where different expressions of the noble Sangiovese grape will enchant, we visit historic winery estates and smaller family-run wineries.
Among the fun experiences on this tour is a hands-on-cooking lesson to learn the art of Tuscan cuisine as well as the opportunity to be a winemaker and create your own blend of wine!
