Covid-19 Info & Health and Safety Measures

Before you arrive

All passengers arriving in Italy are required to fill out an EU Digital Passenger Locator Form (PLF) (Click here to open).

A self-declaration form may also be printed or on mobile device to be presented to the carrier.

As of the 1 March 2022 and up to 31 March 2022  passengers are no longer required to present a negative Molecular (PCR) or Rapid Antigenic test before entry to Italy according to the Ordinance of the Minister of Health.

Together with the Passenger Locator Form (PLF), travellers to Italy must present  one of the  following:

  1. completion of the primary vaccination series or booster dose with vaccines authorized by the European Medical Agency (primary series validity 9 months and booster dose without predefined limit). The Italian Ministry of Health issued an ordinance on July 29, 2021 has recognized vaccine cards issed bycompetent U.S. health authorities (CDC “white cards”) will be considered the equivalent of the Italian Green Pass where this requirement exists.  The following are approved EU vaccines: Pfizer-BioNtech Comirnaty, Moderna, Vaxzevria, Janssen (Johnson & Johnson), Nuvaxovid (Novavax)
  2. medical certificate issued by competent US authorities confirming recovery from COVID within the previous 6 months
  3. Rapid antigen or molecular swab test no more than 48 hours before entry into Italy

Should the traveller not meet any of the above requirements and present certification, the traveller shall be required to a 5-day quarantine, activate local health surveillance procedures by informing the relevant Local Health Authority, and take a swab test (molecular or antigen) at the end of the 5 day period.

To verify  entry requirements from your country of origin, please consult this website: https://infocovid.viaggiaresicuri.it/index_en.html

During your trip

Covid Green Pass

To understand the Italy’s Covid Pass measures, it is necessary to define the types of Green Pass to avoid confusion.

  • Basic Green Pass: issued to persons who test negative to an antigen or molecular swab test within past 48 hours or to those who have completed a full course of vaccination
  • Super Green Pass: issued to fully vaccinated persons with a full course of an approved vaccine and who have recovered from Covid-19, as well as those with the booster.

The Super Green Pass is valid indefinitely when the certification is issued after the 3rd booster dose or after the 2nd dose  and recovery from Covid. For those who have not recovered from Covid but received the second dose, the Super Green Pass remains valid for only 6 months.

Travelers to Italy holding a valid certificate of recovery or vaccination (even with a vaccine not recognized in Italy) and issued more than 6 months, may still access the same services and activities reserved to Super Green Pass holders after receiving a negative swab test  (valid 48 hours if antigenic, or 72 hours if molecular).

The test is not mandatory in case of recovery from Covid-19 after the completion of the primary vaccination cycle. In the case of vaccinations with vaccines that are not authorised or not recognised as equivalent in Italy, access to services and activities is allowed in any case after having carried out a rapid antigen test swab (valid for 48 hours) or molecular test swab (valid for 72 hours) with a negative result for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Accessing indoor venues in Italy

Everybody aged 12 and above must present super Green Pass or equivalent to dine indoors in restaurants, enter museums and archaeological sites, and access other indoor event spaces. This pass must demonstrate proof of a full course of vaccination (in the last 6 months) or recovery from Covid (in the last 6 months).

Visitors from the US, UK, Canada, Japan, and Israel can show the documents issued by their respective authorities in lieu of the Italian Green Pass. The document must both state the identity of the holder and the date and type of vaccine administered. An ID document will also be required to verify the holder’s identity.

Certificates will be accepted in one of the following four languages: English, Italian, French, or Spanish. Any certificate not in one of these must be accompanied by a certified translation.

The certification of successful completion of the vaccination cycle must relate to one of the four vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency: Comirnaty from Pfizer–BioNTech, Moderna, Vaxzevria, Jansen (Johnson & Johnson).

→ Keep up-to-date with the latest official information by visiting the website of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Most public facilities (e.g. museums, bars, restaurants, and shops) have now reopened on the condition that they adhere to social distancing and antiviral cleaning regulations. Stadiums and nightclubs are not yet operating at full capacity.

Daily antiviral disinfection is compulsory for all hotels, cars, trains, buses, and rented vehicles. Mask-wearing is obligatory indoors and in crowds for all personnel and clients. Clients are encouraged to make use of antiviral hand gel, to wear masks even outdoors when necessary, and to follow social distancing measures during activities and transportation.

Contactless ticket redemption is available. Temperature checks are carried out at the entrance to all attractions and museums. Anyone with a temperature exceeding 37.5 degrees will be denied entry. All private drivers are required by law to carry Covid-free test certification.

Covid-19 Info & Health and Safety Measures

Before you arrive

All passengers arriving in Italy are required to fill out an EU Digital Passenger Locator Form. (Click here to open). Anybody unable to do this can use a paper-based self-declaration form and present it to the carrier or any other authorized person, either printed or on one’s mobile device. As of the 1 March 2022 (up to 31 March 2022) Ordinance of the Minister of Health, passengers are no longer required to take a negative Molecular (PCR) or Rapid Antigenic test before entry to Italy. Meaning alongside the PLF they only need one of the following: Carry, and be prepared to present to the carrier or any other authorized person, a certificate of vaccination stating that the cycle of vaccination has been completed with an EMA-authorised vaccine. The US CDC card, EU Green Pass, NHS Covid Pass or any international equivalent will be accepted. OR provide a negative molecular or antigen test or any other equivalent vaccination certificate recognized. OR COVID-19 recovery certificate, certifying that you have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months. Passengers failing to present a certificate stating the completion of a vaccination cycle may still enter Italy but must self-isolate for five days, activating local health surveillance procedures by informing the relevant Local Health Authority, and get tested again at the end of the five days. As of March 1st 2022, the rules of entry have been standardized regardless of your country of origin. However, to verify the entry requirements from your country of origin, please consult this website: https://infocovid.viaggiaresicuri.it/index_en.html During your trip Validity of the Covid Pass To understand the Italy’s Covid Pass measures, first we need to define the two types of Green Pass so as to avoid any potential confusion.  A basic Green Pass: issued to persons who test negative to an antigen or molecular swab test within past 48 hours, or have completed a full course of vaccination; A super Green Pass: issued to fully vaccinated persons with a full course of an approved vaccine and who have recovered from Covid-19, as well as those with the booster. The validity of the COVID-19 super Green Pass to access activities and services in Italy is 6 months. However, if the individual has either received the booster or has completed a vaccination cycle and has recovered from COVID-19 the validity is unlimited. Those who come from a foreign country and are in possession of a certificate of recovery from Covid-19 (where six months have elapsed) or vaccination with a vaccine authorised or recognised as equivalent in Italy, issued by the competent foreign health authorities (where six months have elapsed since the completion of the vaccination cycle), are allowed access to services and activities for which the super Green Pass is provided after having carried out a rapid antigen test swab (valid for 48 hours) or molecular test swab (valid for 72 hours). That’s why we have implemented the following measure to ensure your safety and wellbeing while safeguarding the livelihoods of ours teams. All our staff, guides, and drivers have been double or triple vaccinated. We have reduced the number of participants for each activity and tour we organize. We are insisting that our tour guides, drivers, chefs, and staff are vaccinated. Passenger numbers in minivans are limited to 6 people. We encourage mask-wearing indoors, as mandated by law, and encourage the use of masks in densely crowded outdoor spaces. We support hand hygiene for employees, customers, and visitors, and provide tissues, soap, and water near the entrance and hand washing for our locations. We perform routine environmental disinfection of frequently touched surfaces in the workplace, such as workstations, telephones, keyboards, and doorknobs. We are encouraging a balance of remote and office working, and insist that any employees showing symptoms stay at home and do not return to work until the CDC criteria to leave home isolation have been met. We have ensured that sick leave policies are flexible and consistent with public health guidance and that employees are aware of and understand these policies.
