LE JOIE DE VIVRE DURING LAVENDER SEASON
Provence Lavender and Wine Tour is a guided walking and gourmet foodie experience through the beautiful Southern France countryside during Lavender season.
See this iconic part of France with professional culinary experts and wine professionals, as with licensed handpicked historic guides.
Visiting villages and historical sites during this 8-day/7-night small group Tour, limited to 12 travelers, discover the hidden gems and best kept secrets of the colorful towns of this beautiful region of France.
Enjoy idyllic walks down lanes that inspired Cézanne in Aix and enjoy a tour on van Gogh in St. Remy.
A planned picnic in a lavender meadow and exploring surrounding Roman ruins will surely entice you. And, during the month of June, the vividly colored landscapes of lavender, sunflowers, and poppies among endless rows of luscious vines, indulge in the sumptuous wines soaking in the fantastic Mediterranean climate.
Although still not high on the connoisseur’s list, this area is the oldest wine producing region in France, most probably for the almost 90% of Rosé wines produced, a tradition dating back to 2BC, over 2600 years.
Reds and whites are here produced. Over 35 grape varieties in the region create various styles across 9 geographically diverse appellations. In common is the ideal ripening conditions: plenty of sunshine, low rainfall and the “mistral winds” which cool the vines and keep virus away. Wild shrubs such as rosemary, lavender, juniper, and thyme abound influencing the wine of this region.
Walks though lavender fields, and mingling in the famous local Provencal street markets, will enchant you as much as learning about the local cuisine during a Provencal cooking class in a private farm.
